I am looking for information on William O'Neill and his family.

William was born Nov 1, 1818 in Skibbereen Ireland and married Johannah Hennessey. William died 1903 in Kingsbridge Ontario. His daughter Abigail is my 2x great grandmother. She was born July 9, 1846 in Kingsbridge Ontario, died Dec 11, 1919 in Kingbridge and married Michael Dean on Feb 2, 1869 in Kingsbridge.

Any information you can provide me with on this family would be greatly appreciated. I can be reached by email at coleary75@gmail.com

Thanks
Cathy

Hi Dave,

I did not see that information but that is William's daughter, Abigail O'Neill Dean (my 2x great grandmother's family, husband, kids etc). I was hoping to find out more information on her father, mother and any siblings she may have had along with when (and possibly why) they came to Ontario. Anyone in my family who may have known that information is now deceased.

Thanks for the help though :)

Hi, Depending on when the family came to Canada - the reason may be the Irish Potato Famine ?

Many famine emigrants went initially to British North America (now Canada) because of fare structures and government regulations, but the majority subsequently settled in the United States.
You may have family information - that will help -It will take time - time -research - documentation
some expense - Registrations of Death - Long form death certificate -information depends on correct information from the informant - Obituaries - may show some family history - family connections etc . Registrations of Marriage / Long form marriage certificates - Informtion comes directly from Bride and Groom - so will be as accurate - as they wish. Will show names of both sets of parents including maiden names of the mothers -names of witnesses - religions
Birth Registrations / Long form birth certificates - early ones -may not hold much helpful information -later ones - may show how many children the mother gave birth to - how many stillbirths - how many multiples etc - Voters lists etc - School records - etc - All will help - to put together a family history -
