James Overholt married Mary Bittchen in October 1885 in Exeter. James' parents were Staats and Matilda Overholt. Their daughter, Esther Maud Overholt married Andrew Percival (Percy) Robinson in Hay Township, October 1909.
A Mary Overholt died in June 1898 in Hay Township, "during confinement".
Then James Overholt married Mary McCann in February 1899. His parents are listed as Harold Overholt and Matilda Phillips. James was listed as born in Canada for his first marriage and born in Brant Township for his second marriage.
Is anyone researching this family? I just want to be sure that it actually is the same James Overholt, although it all points to him being the one and same.
Would Staats and Harold be interchangable? I have never seen Staats as a name before.
There is a listing on CanadaGenWeb for a tombstone for Staats Overholt in or near Norwich, which is the right area. I can't make out any inscription on the stone though.
Any help appreciated.
