The third child of seven, and the first son born to Issac and Mary Jane (Stephenson) Metcalfe, Ralph Stephenson Metcalfe, married Catherine Maria Marshall, the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Marshall, and lived in Turnberry Township for a few years. In 1905 they bought Lot 4 Con. 17 of Howick Township from Mr. James Ritchie. In 1915 Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Stephenson Metcalfe sold Lot 4 Con. 17 to their son Harry and bought the Hall farm on Con. 18 of Howick Township. They moved to Con. 18, where they lived until 1930. At which time their son's Leaonard and Mac took over the boundary farm.
The Metcalfe family were members of the Methodist Church for many years and Mrs. Metcalfe was always a very active member of the Womans Institute and W.M.S. The Sunday School Picnic was held at Ralph Metcalfe's place for many years. They had a grand time running races and enjoying everyone's company.
Mr. Ralph S. Metcalfe passed away in 1948, then Mrs. Metcalfe lived with her son Harry until she fell and broke her hip, after that she lived among her family, passing away at the home of her son, Leonard Metcalfe, on June 6, 1952..
