James and Ellen Street, Goderich

Surnames: Street, Pinkerton, Lawrason, Naftel
James A. Street, age 48, teacher, died July 14, 1878, in Goderich Town. Informant shown as Bond Lawrason, Colborne.
Ellen Street, age 52, widow of James Street, died December 14, 1879, in Goderich Town.Informant shown as Francis B. Lawrason, Colborne. Ellen Street may have been a Lawrason, though that's a guess.

Does anyone know where James and Ellen Street are buried? It looks as though both were Anglicans.

Francis Lawrason was with Marcia Pinkerton in Hamilton in 1881. She was a Lawrason and she and her husband Robert are buried in Goderich Cemetery (Maitland Cemetery?). Marcia was in Goderich with Alfred Naftel, her son-in-law, helping with his large family in 1891. Francis Bond Lawrason isn't present, but will be the Bond Laurason who appears on the Huronview Cairn. He died in 1915 at the House of Refuge in Clinton. He was likely the son of Joseph Lawrason and Samantha Curtis, but I'm still working on that.

If anyone has a marriage record for James and Ellen Street or Robert Pinkerton and Marcia Lawrason, I'd be glad to hear of it. I haven't found them in the District or County registers.
Thanks.

Both couples would have been married prior to registration so I think church records are your only hope or a family bible.

Marriage: Ancestry.ca

Lucy Anderson Street, 26, b Goderich Tp, living Goderich, d/o James Anderson Street & Ellen Lawreson, married Charles Hermann Ploetz, 23, Colborne, same, farmer, s/o Chas Ploetz & Frederica Simon, witn: James Turner, Emily Miller both of Goderich, 22 Jan 1878, Town of Goderich, Registration # 004426.

There's your proof that Ellen Street was a Lawreson.
Only marriage I found for any of their children.

Thanks very much for your quick reply. I have Ancestry, but sure missed that one. It's a great tip. It just may account for Bond Lawrason's address being given as Colborne, though he's gone from there by 1881.

Your info is greatly appreciated.

There is a Bond Lawrason buried in (Boot Hill) behind the Huron View Rest Home in Clinton. His name was on the cairn. When someone died in the rest home and no one claimed the body it was buried in their private plot. There are about a hundred names on the cairn.

Hi,

Yes, thanks. I see a photo of the cairn on CanGenWeb with Bond's name on it. It's great the resources we now have that we didn't only a few years ago.
