Surnames: Chamberlain
My granduncle, Henry William Chamberlain, left London, England, late 1890s, early 1900s for Canada. He lived on R.R.1 Bluevale, Huron County, Ontario, in 1916 and farmed there. During that year he joined the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force, remaining there for a year when he was discharged. He was married to Alberta. I have tried t trace his arrival into Canada, but have been unsuccessful. If someone can help me find out whether he had children and cemetery records, I would most appreciate it. Thank you so much.(Turnberry Township)

After James & Eliza Chamberlain died, four of their sons were given new lives by Dr. Barnardo's organization, London, England, in Canada as domestics and farm laborers. Dr. Barnardo's was responsible for sending hundreds of child immigrants to homes in Canada to work, never to see their families again. Albert Stephen Chamberlain was 9 years old in 1888, when he was shipped to Canada from Liverpool, England, to work as a domestic/farm laborer. His brother, Henry, 11 years old, was shipped with Albert on the same boat, the SS Pomeranian. Alfred, 13 years, was shipped on the SS Mongolian in 1894, and brother John Phillip was 17 years old in 1886 when he was shipped on SS Lake Superior. All boys eventually wound up in Ontario. After the 1901 Canadian census wherein Albert was listed as a servant for the Pannebaker family, there is no further information on Albert. According to a family member, he was killed in action in World War I, but there is no record of his service in any military force. There was an Albert Stephen Chamberlain in Port Hope, Durham County, Ontario, who died November 1915 of pneumonia at the age of 30, who was married to Mary Smith. His estimated birth year was 1885. On October 12, 1911, Mary and Albert had a son, John William, both names common in Albert's family in London, UK. Albert's death was reported by his father in law, John Smith, and his death certificate stated that Albert was Irish. Albert's name was added to the gravestone of Wm. and Rachel Smith, his in-laws, showing his birth date as 1884. I have been in touch with John Smith, a relative of the Smith family for further information on Albert but have heard nothing further. (February 2012). .

Henry eventually married a member of the family he was working for (Elsie Yeo) and had a daughter; Alfred married and had a family and was living a happy life in Ontario; John Phillip's name showed up on the 1891 census employed by the Shield family, and 1901 census employed by the same family, but no information about his whereabouts since then. It was said that he moved to Alberta and a John Phillip Chamberlain was listed as a property owner in Edmonton, but no other records available..

James Robert Chamberlain, the older brother, was an adult when their parents' died, so he stayed in London, UK, with his sisters who were also adults. .
