I am researching Mary and Margaret BAIRD who married brothers Henry and Enos BEACH in Leeds County, Ontario in the late 1820's or 1830's. The BAIRD family may have lived at Scogog Island because "after Henry died Margaret and her children returned to her parents' home at Scugog Island, and later Darlington Township.

Hello again,
Sorry about this, but I've just discovered two sisters on my line, with no endings, as to who they married etc...;
Margaret Beard or Baird, bn Aug 9, 1847 in Manvers, Ontario and her sister, Mary Ann, bn January 5, 1849 in Manvers Ontario. They are the daughters of John Beard, bn March 13, 1802 in Ireland, > Canada by 1844 > Manvers, Ontario > changed name to Baird by 1881 Census, md in Ireland to Mary Ann, bn May 10, 1811 in Ireland; son of David Beard bn 1766, Ireland and Jane, bn 1772 Ireland. In response to your quiry of Margaret and Mary Baird / Beach.
I am not certain, but it is possible that these two could be cousins. Mary [Jane] Baird, bn 1851 in Manvers Ontario, daughter of David Baird, bn 1828 Ireland; son of John Beard, bn March 13, 1802 Ireland > Canada by 1844; son of David Beard, bn 1766 Ireland. And Margaret Baird, bn 1857 in Stephen Twp. Ontario, daughter of Humphrey Beard, bn March 4, 1805 in Ireland > to Canada by 1833 > Manvers by 1840, changed name to Baird by 1851 Census, > to Stephen Twp. by 1856; son of David Beard, bn 1766, Ireland. There where a lot of short ends as far as who married who and the roots are yet to be spread out on what I have been given, by, Hal Baird. Hope this is a help to you. Diane

Am looking for anyone doing Baird research. My great grandmother was Emma Victoria Baird-Ames, daughter of David Baird and Lydia Farmer-Baird. She naturalized from Canada before 1870 (naturalized in 1873, on 1870 census), and was born in 1861 in Canada. David was born about 1837 in Canada, and his father was born in Ireland. This is all I know about the family and have been able to find no more information. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

I am curious to know if your John BEARD was married to Mary PORTER. My ancestor Martha PORTER married to Samuel SMART was born 1896 in Ireland (possibly County Down). They came to canda about 1840 and Martha died at Cartwright, Ont. 1851. The family later settled in Grey Co. I understand that Martha had two sisters: Mary BEARD who lived in Grey Co., Ont. and a Sarah REDDICK in Ireland. Sarah's son, John, came to Canada and also settled in Grey Co. I am hoping to gain a little information about the Porter family.

I am trying to find any information about William and Mary Beard who were early pioneers in the Simcoe County area of Ontario. I've been trying to locate any living family who could help me research these people. It is possible that they could be my ggggrandparents but can't prove it at this point. Can you help me? Barb
