Surnames: Richardson; Lake
I am hoping that this group might be able to tell me where I should go for additional information. I am researching a Cadet named Arthur Richardson of the R.A.F.. He was born about 1891 in England. His father was W.S. Richardson of Lowfell, Co. Durham, England.
Arthur was accidentally killed in Deseronto on Oct. 4, 1918. His body was sent to St. Louis, Missouri in the U.S. A Mary Lake gave permission for him to be buried in St. Louis.
I am trying to discovered why he was sent to St. Louis and who were his parents and what did he do in the RAF. Where may I look for information about him. Thank you for your help.

I believe this is the Arthur Richardson you are looking for:

The Winnipeg Tribune (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada – 22 Mar 1918, Friday, Page 16

US Soldier Here To Join Flying Corps

Arthur Richardson, head of the accounting staff of the United States military camp, near St. Louis, arrived in Winnipeg today and enlisted with the Royal Flying corps.

Richardson was one of the first volunteers when the United States declared war on Germany. Owing to his experience as an accountant he was kept in camp, instead of being sent overseas.

He was granted his release last week when he announced his intention to join the flying Corps.

Hope this helps,
Jane

Arthur never married. Mary Lake is the wife of James R. Lake. She later remarried Innis Hopkins. In a telegram dated Oct 8, 1918 from San Marcos, TX she sent the following message. "Of course have him buried in our lot." I would like to know what was the family connection.
