According to the 1936 Belleville Directory Lavina, the widow of Felix Allore was living at the Belvedere Hotel which was owned by the family. Walter Allore (Claire) was managing the hotel. Both Lavina and Walter lived at the hotel. In the 1889 directory there were 3 alore families in Trenton and they were Edward, Baptiste and Napoleon. Good luck

I am from Ohio, but my family has always said that my great-grandmother, Elizabeth Allore Duffy, came from Belleville, Ontario, and that her family owned a hotel - "the Belvedere."
I know nothing about her family, except that her obituary from 1948 says that she was survived by a brother, "Peter Allore," of Ontario, Canada. Could Elizabeth be related to the Felix Allore mentioned in your postings?

Another thing that I have always wondered about is the source of my grandfather's middle name. He was Elizabeth's son (she married John Duffy) and his middle name was Durveaux. Could Durveaux possibly be a family name? If anyone has information about an Allore-Durveaux connection, I would be very interested to hear about it.
Thanks - Maureen

The Allore/Allard family married into my tree. My great grandmothers sister Angeline St. Louis married Charles Allard. The Allard name was soon after "anglicized" to Allore. Charles and Angeline had 5 children that we are aware of so far. Info was found in St Patricks RC Church records in Napanee, Ontario (town just east of Belleville). Their children were: Charles born August 1877, Joseph born January 1880, Laura May born March 1882, Francis born August 1884, Ann Almira born 1894. I'm sure there must be more. There is a good possibility that one of these may be connected to you. I am not yet sure of when the Allards actually changed their name to Allore. I also know there was a Dr. Allore in Belleville from this branch years ago. Let me know if you recognize any of these names. Anne

Is there any information on the origin of the Belleville/Trenton Allards/Allores? I am interested in where in Quebec they came from or any marriage locations/details before the name anglicized. Trying to link to my research on Allard families. Would appreciate any leads.

Hi Ed,
I'm Anne's brother Bill. We have not been able to determine where in Quebec the Allard family originated.I would think that they came to Ontario about 1850-1860 ( a time of great economic recession in the Province of Quebec)with the many other French-Canadian families who were able to get work in the factories located around the Bay of Quinte area.
I am going to research some marriages 1840-1857 at my locale LDS center in a week or so and will watch for Allard's perhaps the info will give the locale from which they came from in Quebec.I will contact you if i come up with anything.
Regards Bill Houle.

I have a few Graveline links that come from the Sorel area of Quebec around the same timeframe (though not the Francois you seek). Gravelines also appear in the villages of St-Jude and St-Ours, just south of Sorel. The family name was also known as Baudreau in the early 1800s, something to keep in mind in any research. Hope that provides a useful start point. Good luck.

On a separate point, I would be interested in ancestry of your Allard surname. Does it also come from Quebec?

The Grav(e)lin(e) - Allard marraige we have was recorded by a deceased family researcher who copied familiy vital records from city offices in VT in the 1960s...pre-internet =)
Sorry, but we have no further information and know only our Grav(e)lin(e)s came from "CANADA"...?
