Hi

I have been to Cox Estate Cemetery, on Wedgewood. There is no tombstone for him there.
Do you have information relating to this? Are you related?

All the headstones were removed by the Town of Oakville when the area was being developed in the 1950's.
The 3 headstones there were buried in the mud so the town missed them. They were found by a garden from the house beside the graveyard that is in fact the Harris's old barn. It was a hospital for coloured people during the 1833 cholera epidemic as the town fever shack (epidemic hospital) did not allow coloured people.
John C Harris died in circe 1847 possibly in a later epidemic?
The Cox family preserved the cemetery but the segregated Town of Oakville desecrated it.
Email me if you require further information on this extraordinary family.
