Hi Shelly, did you manage to find the ship list for Sybil...according to family lore, John Simpson Sr was the captain.
I do not think there was much in the book on my line, no one appeared to know much about Hannah Allison Simpson Slater. When she went to Detroit she had at least another 3 children.
I had someone in Detroit photograph their grave. I added them to find a grave.
Her husband Wm Simpson, remains a mystery, after the 1861 census he was no where to be found and on that census Hannah states she is a widow. In the 1871 census she states she is divorced. 1871 census, no sign of her ex nor could I find him in 1881. Oddly enough he is back on his parents farm in 1901...about the time his brother died. In that census he is listed as married, but no wife listed. his death took place before 1911 and he died in Arkell area, but no burial located. In 1871 & 1861 census, there was one Wm Simpson in Kingston Penn, one married and living in new Orleans and one in Toronto that would fit his age.
Hannah and Wm had 4 children, two boys and 2 girls. The boys went to Detroit and the girls stayed in Halton.
On the "My Roots" site Joshua Norrish has the early history of Nassagaweya, that was a good read.
this is my line
John Simpson Sr and Hannah Atkinson Taylor from Allerston England
son John Simpson born England married Elizabeth Norrish
their son John Simpson married Maggie Jane Simpson
their daughter Maggie married Campbell Smith from Puslinch
they were my grandparents.
I knew my dad had relatives in Michigan, because when his parents got older he would drive them down for a visit.
As for John Allison and Jane Parker, some of their child went to Iowa, Idaho etc.
Find a grave....I started Ebenezer cemetery and also worked on St Davids.......my pen name for find a grave is Smitty.
I have two Joseph Kidd Allisons listed, one is the father of all and is married to Hannah Atkinson from St Helens Durham England. They also had a son Joseph Kidd Allison who married Mary Ann Riordan.
Hope this helps
