I am a direct descendent of the Sawyer's from Maple Lake. Looks like lots of my Sawyers married your Barry's. I am not sure if my records will show such a recent line but I do have some info on some of these folks. Hiram David Sawyer married Eliz Jane Redner about 1857. William Henry Sawyer married Lousia Barry in Mar. 21, 1880 in Stanhope Twp. Their children were Gertrude, Wilbert, Francis and Nellie May. Eliza Sawyer married David James Barry in 1877. Mary Jane Sawyer married George Barry on April 12, 1880. I have some other Barry records as well so if you would like to trade info, let me know by e-mailing me directly at bonnyc2@hotmail.com

Shawn, i have quite a bit of info on this family, although I haven't come across Frank, mind you I have discovered that quite often, the names they were born with are not the names they used day to day.

The Stanhope Museum has some info on these families, including photos. Check out www.stanhopemuseum.on.ca for census info, patent land records and marriage records.

We are also building a giant Pioneer Family Tree which includes Sawyers and Redners (sorry, the Barrys were mainly in West Guilford, about 3 feet outside our collection area ...).

I've been working on these family trees for about 12 years and am willing share and exchange info and photos.

There are photo galleries on the museum website, too.

BTW, William Henry Sawyer is the only recorded murder in Stanhope's early history. I have the transcription of the Ptbo newspaper articles if anyone is interested. They're fabulous, although a tad grisly.

I'm happy to correspond via loghouse@candlelight.ca.

Hello I am Teresa and James Barry 1809 is my 3rd great grandfather. I am trying to trace his roots. I believe that David James about 1780 is his father?

Any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated!
