Hello I am Teresa and James Barry 1809 is my 3rd great grandfather. I am trying to trace his roots. I believe that David James about 1780 is his father?

Any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Teresa,

It's best if you contact Carol Moffatt (see previous message of mine). She's the founder of the Stanhope museum and would have a lot more information on this family.

Regards,
Sandra

Hi there, Just browsing this thread and came across a "Barry" surname. I'm pretty sure my great-grandmother was Isabella Barry d.29-Jun-1935. Her parents were James Barry and Caroline Dowmen (?). Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciate. My email is: thehorsleys@rogers.com

thanks!

I know it's been a long time BUT here is some info. My husbands ancestry goes back to Stanhope twp/Maple Lake. His name is Thompson. Back in 1897 there was a murder. William Henry Sawyer was murdered by a Mathew and Thomas Thompson. William Henry's father was Hiriam. There was also Barry's, Redners's and Archer's mentioned in the newspaper article
