Surnames: Krick Crick Bamber
Hello my name is Amanda. I have been researching my family history for a few years and this is the first time I have come across this thread. It is my Mother's side that is from Dunnville. My mother's name is Lorie Krick. Her parents were Charles and Doris(Bamber)Krick. Charles parents were Charles and Lillian(Lillie Zimmerman)Krick. Doris parents were James and Elizabeth(Bell)Bamber. I will leave it at that...the biggest question I have is about John Krick he was married to Cora Cook. I am having a hard time going back any farther than him the records I have found from his attestation papers say that he was born in Kansas USA. I have his parents as Philip and Emma which I have been unable to verify and I can't seem to find any record of his death. He is not buried in Dunnville with Cora? I am stumped and any help would be greatly appreciated..Thanks :)

Hi attestation papers say he was in Haldimand Rifles for 7 years which would mean he was in Canada in 1910.

This is the only John Krick I found on 1911 census in Ontario born USA.

1911 census Portsmouth, East Kingston, Ontario
Kingston Penitentiary
John Krick, inmate,30, born USA, farmer

Marriage:
John Krick, 23, b Illinois USA, living Dunnville, s/o Philip E Krick and Emma Reece married Cora Cook, 21, Dunville, same, d/o John Cook & Shelly C Low?, Registration # 009525, 12 January 1904 Haldimand.

Philip B Creek/Creck, 25, b Germany, living Gainsborough Tsp, farmer, s/o Philip and Elizabeth Creek, married Emiline Reece, 22, widow, b Pelham Tsp, living Gainsborough Tsp, d/o John & Mary Ann Reece, witn: Catharine Traver & Sarah A Phillips both of Pelham, 26 Nov 1873, Pelham.
# 012701. Methodist.

1901 census Caistor Wentworth South
CRICK
Philip, 16 Nov 1848, 52, Germany, immigrated 1855
Emelia, 22 Apr 1847, 53, Oont
Linnie, 27 Sept 1874,26, Ont
Jennie, 22 May 1876, 24, Ont
William, 14 Dec 1877, 23, Ont
JOHN, 18 Aug 1880, 20, Ont
Charles, 7 Oct 1882, 18, Ont
Arthur, 6 Aug 1885, 15, Ont

They are living beside another Crick family with a Philip b 1819, aged 81 as the head.
1901 and 1911 census on www.automatedgenealogy.com

1891 census Caistor Wentworth South
CRICK
Philip, 41, Germany, parents b Germany, farmer
Emiline, 43, Ontario
Elizabeth, 16, Ont
Jennie, 13, Ont
Philip, 12, Ont
JOHN, 10, Ont
Charles, 7, Ont
Arthur, 5, Ont

There are only two children birth registered on Ancestry for Philip and Emeline.
May, 22 May 1876, Lincoln County
Elizabeth Ann, 27 Sept 1874, Lincoln

Although the census say the children were born in Ontario, the census are notorious for wrong information.

1880 census Floyd, Warren, Illinois, USA
KRICK
Philip, 32, Germany
Emiline, 28, Canada
Ida, 9
Mary, 8
Ann, 5,
May, 4
Philip, 2
Children all born Canada.

John was likely born Illinois as per his marriage registration. By 1891 they were back in Canada.

Child/ren of John Philip Krick and Cora Matilda Cook as listed on Ancestry.ca
Jennie May, 24 July 1904 [Delayed Statement of Birth given by Jennie Logan at Dunnville 6 May 1969.]

Charles Philip, 24 Dec 1905, [Delayed Statement of birth given by Charles P Krick, Dunnville Aug 1958. His says father was 20 and mother 16 at time of his birth.]

If John was indeed in jail in Kingston where would Cora have gone? With parents?

1911 census Dunnville
COOK
Cora, head, married, b May 1888, 23
Jennie, daughter, Jul 1905, Ont
Charles, son, Dec 1906, Ont
John, father, 1873, Ont
William, brother, Nov 1883, Ont
That took a lot of looking.

1921 census Dunnville
KRICK
Cora, 31, b Ontario, inspector,married
Jennie, 16, Ont
Charlie, 15, Ont
William Cramp, lodger, 24, Ont

No sign of John in Dunnville on 1921 census. This census has not been transcribed yet so I only looked in Dunnville.

On Charles' marriage rego, as he was only 17, there was a consent given for marriage by his mother.
This consent would normally be given by the father I think, so maybe John isn't on the scene anymore.
If he had been around after 1906/07 there would likely have been more children born.
I checked 1921 census for Kingston Pen, the hospital next door and Frontenac County Jail but no sign of John.

Check Cora's obit and see if there is any information on it.

Also, if that is John in jail on 1911 census, perhaps there would have been a report of it in the local paper.
