Am not related, nor do I have a copy of the book, but did find some information about the Underwoods in Whitby.

I found a marriage for a Mary Underwood in 1860 to Henry Graham in Columbus, Whitby Township. She was the daughter of John & Elizabeth, and was born in Yorkshire,England.

Another daughter of John & Elizabeth, Ann Underwood, aged 23, married John Lockie in 1859. She had been born in Markham, Ontario, which would indicate an immigration date of about 1835.

Another sibling, John Underwood, died November 21, 1921 in Whitby, aged 76 years, 7 months, born Canada, the son of John Underwood & Elizabeth Cook. Buried in Union Cemetery in Whitby.

The Underwoods in Arran Township, Bruce County, Ontario seem to have been from Ireland, not England.
