SPECK FAMILY

Hi all: this is a long shot - but some one told me that one of the branches of their Speck family were found in Grey County. So I thought I would post my problem and see if any one has any ideas - or if the name is familiar. I have posted this on a couple of genweb sites - so if you have already read it - I apologize. But just in case this is new to you - here goes.
Background:
My great grandfather George Travis Speck was b Feb 14, 1855 in Oakville,
Halton County, Ontario, Canada. He married Francis Dempsey on Nov 9, 1876 in
Oakville. He had a son - my grandfather George Valentine Speck b Nov 26,
1878 in Humberstone, Welland County, Ontario, Canada. George Travis died on
Nov 29, 1921 in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Welland County.

Problem:
The problem is that I can't find great grandfather George Travis' parents.

What I have found so far:
On the marriage record of George Travis Speck to Francis Dempsey, it states
that his parents are George Speck and Hannah Speck (no maiden name for
Hannah).
On his death record, it states that his parents names are John Speck and
Martha Stevens.

I checked the cemetery records at Fairview Cemetery Niagara Falls (where
he is buried), so I know he is buried beside Francis Dempsey in Fairview
Cemetery in Niagara Falls and I know he had a daughter - Pearl who married a
Stephens. We don't know this Stephens first name. My elderly aunt told me
this last year and it is also stated in George's obit.
It says on the death record that the name and relationship of informant is
his daughter, a Mrs. Stephens - so that checks out.

I found a George Speck on the 1871 Census in Haldimand County, Ontario,
Canada. But his wife's name is Christina and there is a son George age 13.
The age is 3 years off for him to be my greatgrandfather - George Travis. I
don't think
this is the family. I am not worried about the age difference here - the parents names are what is wrong.

This is the only George Speck I could find, so I don't know where to
look for him from 1855 to 1876. I have searched the 1861 census also but he
is not there. I am hoping that maybe the family might be found in Grey County.

In Canada, births were not recorded before 1869 so I wrote to the United
Church of Canada Archives (because on his marriage record he states he is
Methodist). They wrote back and said that the only Speck they could find
being baptized in Halton County from 1829-1897 was a Mary Elizabeth Speck b
Aug 7, 1852, baptized in 1854 and her parents were George Speck and
Catharine Speck.

I don't know what else to do or how next to proceed. I am hoping someone can
help me. I look forward to hearing from someone. Thank you.
