I am looking for information on one of Glenelg's families. Specifically, I am looking for information on Neil and Mary McLeod, parents of Donald "Daniel" McLeod, who was born 1861 in Glenelg, and married Kate Spain in 1894 in Durham, ON. Do you know if the McLeod Family is mentioned in the history book of Glenelg? I am searching for the birthplace and birthdate of Neil and Mary, and Mary's maiden name. I am unsure if they were born in Grey County or in Scotland.
If you have a few minutes to check your copy of this publication, I would appreciate it. Thanks very much.

Hi there.
The history book only had one small reference to Neil McLeod, as residing on lots 41 and 42, Conc 2, north Durham Road, Glenelg.
From there I was able to locate Neil and Mary in the following census 1851,1861,1871,1881,1891,and 1901 located in Glenelg Township, County of Grey. I also found the marriage record for Daniel and Kate.
I also checked the Ontario Cemetary list and found a Neil and Mary buried at the Smilie Cemetary located at lot 31, conc 1, North Durham Road with a photo of the gravestone!
I beleive on the gravestone it says they are from Argllshire Scotland. Here is the link for the photo

Surnames: MORTLEY; WATT
From the book of Glenelg Township History, someone on ancestry has copies of partial sections of the submission by (Mrs R.A.) Jessie Mortley, June 1984 with a photo of Charles Mortley's family (Wife Lavina Watt). Underneath the photo is the caption "Caroline Mortley Born 1814 Died 1899. They told me they don't have a copy of the whole page or the whole photo from that page. Since they don't have the book they are unable to email me the entire photo or the entire page.
I can't see a page number on the scanned copy of the bottom of the page they have posted.
Are you able to email me a copy of this entire page? I have attached part of the page to help you recognize it in the book. I don't know it is in the history book that you have but the person on ancestry said it was. (I REALLY hope so).
Here's my email address: elainevanderwal1@gmail.com Thanks a million, Elaine
