I am Peter E. Grady - son of Peter H. Grady - son of W.H. Grady - son of A.F. Grady son of John W. Grady who was b. NS in 1811 - I am looking for his father / mother whom I believe may have been UELs around the end of the 1700s I am guessing from initial data that his name may have been James Grady (was demobbed in Antigonish in about 1784 plus on a land grant list).
AFG married 2x, mother of WHG was 1st wife Mary McClement married in Winnipeg in 1883. AFG apprenticed as a Tinsmith in Collingwood, ON before going to Winnipeg thence to Medicine Hat and Calgary before settling in McLeod.
AFG had 9 siblings including 2 brothers (John Henry and James the eldest) who volunteered in the 31st Grey Battalion (Annan/Lieth) at the time if the Fenian Raids 1866 & 1870. JHG was also in the Red River Expedition of 1870 to Manitoba to show the flag re Louis Reil and also re the Fenians S of the border. JHG was discharged in Winnipeg in 1872 with a "bounty" of 160 acres which he probably sold. etc etc

John W. Grady and family of 9 children first appear in Sydenham Township, Grey County, Canada West in the 1861 census. The seven oldest children were born in Nova Scotia, Alfred and Alice were born in Canada West. Where did the other children migrate?
