Elizabethtown, Leeds & Lansdowne, Yonge - Where to Search

Looking to learn more about available records in the Elizabethtown area late 1700's-1830's.

My ancestor, Job BARDEN, was born about 1773, likely in Freetown, Massachusetts to Justus BARDEN and Ann SIMMONS. In 1790 Justus is found in Lee, Massachusetts with his family. The next mention is in 1797 in an Elizabethtown census where son Job is a single man. By 1801, Job is married in Elizabethtown to a Mary/Polly and is beginning to have children, so he probably married in Elizabethtown. I would love to find out Mary/Polly's surname. Job identifies as Methodist on the 1861 census in Uxbridge but other family members identify as Baptist at other times. Job's mother Ann/Nancy dies perhaps in 1812, probably in Elizabethtown and his father Justus dies probably about 1820, probably in the Elizabethtown area. I can find no records to substantiate this. Any ideas?

1809-1816 Job is in Rear of Leeds & Lansdowne at one point being identified as Town Clerk and in 1813 identified as Sergt - I believe sergeant in the War of 1812, however I have not come across his name in any military listings so far. Any hints on where to look for those details? Are there are birth / baptism records for this period in Rear of Leeds & Lansdowne?

1819-1821 Job is in Yonge and also identified as Town Clerk. His daughter Rachel, my 3x great-grandmother, is born 1820, so I assume she is born here, but a record would be excellent confirmation.

The trail goes cold shortly after 1821 but Job surfaces again 1846 in Whitby. I cannot find him on the 1851 census, though he appears still to be in the Whitby area. The last mention I can find of him is on the 1861 census in Uxbridge, by which time Mary/Polly has died.

Job's known children are as follows:
Nancy ~1800-~1805
Mary ~1801-unknown
James ~1803-unknown
Timothy ~1805-bef 1813
Lydia ~1806-aft 1853
Truman ~1808-unknown
Hiram 1809-unknown
Nelson 1811-1876
Russel ~1814-unknown
[perhaps one or two more children]
Rachel ~1820-1900

The other surnames I am researching in Ontario are CURTIS, STALEY & MOORE.

Any advice you may have would be highly appreciated.

Kind thanks,
Mike

Below is a land petition by Job Barden which you can actually read. 1796 is mentioned within this petition but it looks like this petition took place in 1822. This also mentions him being a Sargeant during the War of 1812 for the 2nd Regiment Leeds Milita but does not mention whether he saw service during the War. Click on the link below, enter page 404 and keep going until page 417.

There are other petitions made by Bardens which can be looked up and read:

Once the film is known, go here:

Open the film and starting fumbling through until you find the petition you want to view.
