Kavanagh Family from Grenville, Leeds

Hello,
I have traced my family from Ireland to the Mallorytown area. My ggg grandfather Garret Kavanagh, his wife Mary and 3 children Ann, Nancy and Charles emigrated from County, Carlow Ireland in about 1835. They went on to have another 6 children one of which was my gg grandfather James born in 1842. He married Julia Fenton and they had several children.
I believe they were farmers. If anyone knows of this branch of the Kavanagh family or other relatives I would love to learn more.
Thanks in advance for any help!

There are some similarities but I don't think that Family search link is the same family.

I am familiar with James's brother's branch Thomas T. Kavanaugh, whose descendants married into my Giffin family. I'm in contact with my Kavanaugh 3rd cousins. I'll invite you to my family tree on Ancestry.com. By the way, the 1851 census says that James was born in 1840.

Your tree is almost identical with the familysearch.org tree, with the exception of the spelling of Cavanaugh versus Kavanaugh & the familysearch tree has more details for this family. Please look again and do a comparison. I am not related but would hate for you to pass up an opportunity to learn more.

Your tree is here: debgeof

Most of the so-called 1851 Census was done during the first quarter of 1852, if you look on this census for this family, on the previous page, the date of the census was January 1852.

I know that James' death register named his mother as Mary Downey of Co. Kilkinney, Ireland, & father as Garrett b. Co. Carlow, Ireland
the informant was: T.T. Kavnaugh of Alex. Bay, NY; however, look at the following records to see what the mother's maiden name was listed as:

Oh, I was misinterpreting the tree; you're right this is the same family. Don't know why this person used a "C" when it's clearly "K" in the 1851 and 1861 census.

Also I see that many Ancestry members have used this source:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=49...

for Mary's death date, but this is the wrong person. The Find a Grave memorial is for Maria Kavanaugh whose husband was John.

I absolutely agree with you that they have the wrong Mary.

Thomas T. went to Jefferson County, NY, and Mary was listed right after him on the 1881 Census. So, I wonder if Mary went with Thomas? I see Thomas was naturalized by 1896 in Alexandria Bay, Jefferson, County but the paperwork said he arrived on March 1, 1891:

Great, glad to hear you agree.

I couldn't find Thomas on the 1892 NY census.

I don't see Mary listed for Saint Cyril's Cemetery but I know this list isn't complete (you'll see Thomas & his wife here & some children):

Mary may have moved in with another of her children?
