Rebekah,
If I was going to try to find out more about Linus, it would be worth following the Butlers. According to baptismal records found at FamilySearch.org, Mary Mars Field, wife of Linus Field and daughter of Truelove Butler and Mary McEachern, was baptized at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Williamstown, Glengarry Co., Upper Canada on 26 MAY 1793.
Also baptized were her Butler siblings Truelove Jr., Anna, Jamima, Margaret, and Jenny. That told me that Mary Butler and Linus Field were already married by then. So I checked for baptisms of their children and found that Martha Field and Russell Field were baptized the same day, same place.
You can get copies of the records from LDS film # 928968.
So apparently they settled in that area before coming to Elizabethtown. Truelove Jr. petitioned for 200 acres of land from Elizabethtown on 19 SEP 1797, as son of Truelove Butler late member of Jessup's Corps.
For what it's worth!
Sandy
