I have started a new web site specifically for my own genealogy but have included an area for ALL Leeds County researchers to link their email addresses to if you so desire. The site is http://www.leedscountyontario.com and has two sites attached to this domain. The first is a Rootsweb site which has the Genealogy on it. The second is a Geocities site which has the county information on it. Feel free to check it out before you contact me to be added. Go to http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~leedscounty/ and take the "Your Genealogy" link to see where your information would be posted. Please send your SURNAME(s) that you are researching, your name, and your email address. This site will be updated as time permits. Both sites are Works in Progress and will be an ongoing build. When you access the site, you will see how to contact me. Happy hunting, Leeds County!

I notice one of the names you are researching is Davidson. As I have been chasing Davidsons all over Leeds and beyond would enjoy comparing notes with you.

Hi Laura: No I never heard from you. I was wondering about your Davidson connections. Mine came from Scotland; three young boys as BHC. One brother stayed in Ontario; one came west to Sask (my grandfather) and the third has been a hard one to trace.
Would be interested in knowing if you had run across any of these families.

Regards, Shirley

Surnames: Davison/Davidson
Shirley
We (there are a few of us) are descendants of George Davison & Rachel McClaine, who immigrated to Canada, from Ireland, approx. 1828, they eventually settled in the Augusta, Grenville area. They emigrated with 3 of thier sons and had 3 more sons & 1 daughter after arriving.
We have wondered if there may have possibly been other family that came over, as of yet we have not proven this. However, our George is the the son of James & Mary Davison from Tandragee, Ireland and they spelled thier name with the single "d".
I come across alot of Davidson/Davison's in my search, what names, date & places are you looking for specifically?
Laura

Have you ever run across the name of a John Davison that was married to Lydia Landers or Landress? Also, I am looking for their son, Jabez Davison (born in 1817) that was married to Orilla Bullis. John Davison was a Loyalist and originally from Connecticutt but arrived in Leeds County sometime prior to the War of 1812. They lived in Yonge Township, Augusta and many other places in Leeds and Grenville Counties. They moved to Minnesota in 1862. Thanks

We found two John Davison in the Augusta area, one of them was the one we are looking for, the other we are not sure of. Ours was John married to Abigail Dakins, the other is a John married to Eliza (per the 1881 census). We are unsure if he is related, but he lived very close to our Davison family and was the same age as our John. I have the census info on this 2nd John and family, in case we find there is a connection. We have also seen another John Davison, just across the border near the Ogdensburg area, did not keep any info, because he said he was from CT (in census).
