This note is a reply to JLeGarignon , who contacted me directly by email on the matter of his William Kennedy . I think it best if we use this forum for our correspondence so that others may help in your search . Also I encourage you to make your own posting about said William Kennedy [possibly to the Loyalist Board , or a board associated with the Eastern Townships of Quebec or the Chateauguay Valley ] .
In your email you suggested that this William Kennedy was in Boston circa 1762 and he was married to Mary Butler there Dec 1762 .
You also mentioned that your William Kennedy and a John Butler [and others] acquired a Land Patent for 47,000 acres in 1769 and another 13,000 acres in 1770 . I would think this info would be in conflict with the WILm Kennady who appears on Sir John Johnson's Kingsborough Patent List in a grouping with my ancestors who arrived in 1773 with Rent Due Date of Sept 25 1778 . It would seem that someone so long established in the New World would be loath to become a mere tenant farmer , hacking out a plot in another man's bush . I think it most likely these are two different men . This does not at all preclude your William Kennedy being a Loyalist and settling in Douglastown Quebec , after the Rev War .
As an aside . I also have an ancestor named Michael Gallinger Sr who's name is also on one of those Land Patent Grants in New York Province [along with about 25 others including Sir William Johnson of the Kingsborough Patent ] ; but as I understand it , these men were subordinate to said Sir William Johnson [who needed their signatures to acquire this Crown Land] and then subsequently the entire parcel was his alone .
