As I think more about this, I realize that Alex Grant died in 1891 and Marjory in 1812 (according to the tombstone in St. Andrew's, Williamstown, cemetery). I don't know whether they arrived in No. America before or after the Revolution, but it seems likely that they were in the group who arrived in the 1784-1786 emigration. (In truth, the way that stone is written they could have remained in Scotland. It's written as a tribute by their grandsons. The main reason I think they did emigrate is that the grandsons knew their dates of death). Marjory must have lived with one of her children after Alex's death, but I don't have the names of any children except for [Donald] Alexander Grant of 2nd SSRR. [Donald] Alex got his land in 1802. But he was listed in 1799 at James Roy's birth as "of Charlottenburgh" (I don't know where I got the idea that he was "of Cornwall" at that time. I just looked back at the baptismal record and it's clearly Charlottenburgh).
So the timeline is rather murky at this point. It seems to indicate that [Donald] Alexander Grant lived somewhere in Charlottenburg before he got his 2nd SSRR lot. Where?? With whom??
