After I wrote that I remembered reading that the way the Crown Grants worked was that the person had to live on the land for a certain period and make a certain amount of improvements before the Grant became final. It's possible that [Donald] Alex Grant was already living on Lot 15 2 SSRR by 1799 with final grant made in 1802.
