Any information regarding Capt. Alex[ander] Harrow living in Sandwich, Ontario, between 1805 and 1810, would be much appreciated. He was a mariner. One of the vessels with which he was associated was the schooner Ranger.

I found an Alexander Harrow with land in Michigan in 1811. His brother James also purchased land that year. Both appear to have been captains. This was on Rootsweb. Hope this is useful. I am looking for information on John R.Harrow born in VA 1788 and in Iowa in 1850.

I am ggggrandaughter of Capt. Alexander Harrow, and have a lot of info on his family. He died in 1811 in MI. He had a large plantation at Algonac MI. He may have had a son by a previous marriage named Alex too. He was given land in Ont. as a officer in the British Navy. Birthdate 8 Nov 1755 in Scotland. The whole family were sailors and shipbuilders. I know of several ships that he was Capt.of but haven't heard of "The Ranger". I would be interested in any info you have and will share.

I am trying to sort out my family through the 1700's in Wemyss, Fife, Scotland. There are several different lines with overlapping Christian names in the parish at the time. Family may have moved from Aberdeen in late 1600's.
I don't have an Alex with a birth date of 8 Nov 1755. Can you advise place of birth in Scotland to see if there is any link. I am trying to fill in some gaps by exploring immigration possibilities.

Captain Alexander Harrow's son is burried at a cemetary in Algonac and there is a Harrow plot there also. There is a replica of his ship "The Welcome" in Mackinaw City.
