Hello! I've been researching this family since I believe Fred had a half brother named Levi Louis Minard [b. 1834]

[Biographical Record of Hamilton County, 1902.]
Levi Minard. . . . He is a native of the Dominion of Canada, his birth having occurred at St. Thomas on the 8th of May 1834. His mother, Mrs. Abigail Minard, died in Canada, in 1878. The subject of this review was only four years of age when he came to the United States in company with his grandparents, George and Elizabeth Minard, who located in La Salle County, Illinois.... Mr. Minard has one sister and two brothers: Lavina, Charles and Fred, all of whom reside in Canada.”

1.
I have a printed booklet dated May 1983 from the Elgin County OGS that lists 84 tombstones and their transcription in Braynes Cemetery. There is an addenda: List of stones recorded in 1953 but not discovered in May 1983 transcription. Your Annie and George Naab are listed there along with 17 other names. I found that also in the Monroe County, Michigan cemetery that I was searching. gloria

Noticed the Welter name. Believe one of the Jones girls married a Welter and Christina was a person in that family.
Think his name was Jacob. When Asa Jones and Lydia Morse Jones were older they left Canada after 1880
for Michigan.
Believe the sister was Delphine and the youngest daughter of Asa Peter Jones and Lydia Morse.
Good Hunting
Louisville, KY

This is interesting information. I know that Thomas's family was part of the Methodist New Connexion church in England (Ashton-Under-Lyne). I wondered if he went to Ontario because he had extended family there. His siblings seem to be James Dean, Martha Binns and Mary Walmesley Waterhouse. I don't have confirmation of this yet but some evidence seems to point to this family. His father (we think) was Thomas Poole Waterhouse (born in 1815, Manchester). Was Alice's family connected with the Methodist church? Thomas lived in New Zealand for a while, immigrated to Canada but died in Roanoke, Virginia in 1922.

One of Isreal Morse's daughter married a Waterhouse. It was sometime spelled Watterhouse. They had several children and when she died he left several of the children and came to the states and remarried....Alice was born 1818 so that would give a time frame. They were in Elgin County and also Grimsby, Canada. If you are interested I could root around in all my Canada records. I have several.
Alice had a brother James.

Hi there.

...not sure if it's a typo or if the record was cut off,but you likely mean Port Burwell.

Dig around in these records, often nearby counties in Southern Ontario can hold some clues as well:

www.elginogs.ca

www.oxford.ogs.on.ca

www.londonmiddlesex.ogs.on.ca

You may also find bits and pieces in Norfolk County as well.

Talbottrail: I have been out there a number of times looking for the Naab markers. My cousin and her Mother where there in 1965 or 1966 and they found the markers but at that time the grass and weeds where waste high. She cannot recall exactly where they where.. I think the markers are likely still there but grown over with grass etc along with some others mentioned in the 1983 census. I have a piece of paper entitled "Braynes Cemetary Plot Plan" which I got from Southwold office showing 105 plots numbered from 0 to 104 but no corresponding list who is in each plot and this is what I am looking for.

I do not know if this information is any help to you. The Elgin OGS did a recording of all markers at Brayne's Cemetary which is just outside of Port Stanley Ont. They could not find a number of stones in 1983 but they where recorded in 1953. Two of these stones where William Jas Cartwright (died 16 Oct 1935) and William Pengelly(died 13 Aug 1927) A short time ago I walked through the cemetary and found that someone had placed a marker with the following information. CARTWRIGHT-William 1858-1935 Lavinia 1861-1938 PENGELLY-William 1870-1927 Lavinia 1888-1952.

Two of my ancestors,George Naab(died 1909) and Annie Naab(died 1918) are buried there and there markers where listed in 1953 but where not found in 1983 along with a number of other people.Any information would be appreciated.

From time to time they lived in Elgin County, namely Bayham Twp where Darius taught school I believe 1901 . Darius parents were David and Anna Dean, buried possibly in Straffordville Cem. Also Hannah High Dean was born in Bayham . I wondered
if I may have missed an Obituary or article. Thanks for your reply.
