We have a Robert J. Whitten born in 1847 Ontario married
Mary ??, who was born 1856 in Ontario. They had one child that we know of, Millard J. Whitten, born 1889 in Ontario, who married Charlotte PRESSICK - which is where our tie with the family is. Millard and Charlotte had two sons, one of which is living.
Don't know if this helps you any. Millard and Charlotte where around the Dundalk/Melancthon Twp area, which is just up the road from Shelburne.

Hi Cynthia, sorry for not responding sooner. Some of the information posted has helped. The WHITTEN family in question lived on the 2nd Con. Amaranth Township. There were 9 children. 5 boys and 4 girls, one of which is my great grandmother Sarah Ann WHITTEN.
Besides the information you posted which has helped alot I also am searching for any obituaries you may have for any of the WHITTEN family. I have a few posted here:

http://www.rootsweb.com/~onduffer/obituaries/names-w.html

There are some descendants of the WHITTEN family living in Shelburne and Orangeville. There was only one WHITTEN family in Amaranth. The other one was in Artemesia Township, Grey County. Most of the WHITTEN family is buried in the Shelburne Cemetery with a few in Greenwood, Orangeville.

Thanks alot for your help Cynthia.

Hi, If this is true then we are related. Robert WHITTEN was my great grandmother's father. Her name was Sarah Ann Whitten. She married Thomas Hewitt, and so I am a Hewitt. She was born in Amaranth township in Dufferin County.

Hi, we are also related. Lucinda Whitten was my great grandmother's sister, being Sarah Anne Whitten. Their father was Robert Whitten. That would be the Mrs. Thomas Hewitt in your post. I am a Hewitt living in Canada. I am the one who posted the obit.
