I hope someone can help me with my search.
A couple of months ago I sent my question (below) to the Library and Archives of Canada, who said they didn't have the info I was asking for. They said to check with Archives of Ontario. Before driving there I sent the Archives an email asking if they had the Land records I was looking for. They said no they didn't and forwarded me to the Cochrane Land Registry Office and they said they don't do searches. So here here am.
My mothers (Evelyn Blackwood) father Albert Henry Blackwood was a WW1 veteran and was given an 80 acre parcel of land approx. 12 km south of Matheson, Ontario in 1932 to raise his family as part of a Government Land Grant. The area was called the Hookers Creek Settlement. All those who moved there were from North York in Toronto. I believe they lived there for 8 years.
What I'm looking for are:
1) - Documents linking Albert Henry and his family to this parcel of land.
2) - Proof my mother Evelyn was born in Matheson on Apr 9, 1933.
I'm starting to think I'll have to hire a researcher for this one.
Kind Regards,
Steve Burke
