In my Kehoe genealogy I have a Mary Elizabeth Kehoe married to Joseph Charbonneau. I don't have details on his family but I understand that someone has done an extensive family tree back to their arrival in Canada in the 1600s. If memory serves me, Cecil Charbonneau of Ottawa, Ontario was involved or may be able to point you in the right direction. I have no address or anything on him. Good luck!

Looking for father and mother of Joseph Jules Charbonneau/Rosalie Pilon. My grandfather was Earl, son of Joseph, son of Joseph Jules. Am stuck here..

I'm unsure how much information I have for you - My Gradfather was Albin Kenneth LeRoux. His mother was Louise Charbonneau (Mary Charbonneau). Her mother was Adeline Charbonneau. I have a death announcement from Arpil 1940 for Adeline that lists Mrs. Alber Peltier as Adeline's daughter - this would my Mother's "Aunt Mino" (Malvina CHarbonneau). It does list her children (Dalph and Henry - Superior, Joseph - St. Paul, Mrs. S. LaFamme -Superior, Mrs. Joseph Monnett- Minneapolis, Mrs. Henry LeRoux (my great grandmother) and Mrs. Alber Peltier (My great Aunt Mino) - Duluth. I do know that Adeline lived with my great grandmother in Duluth and was listed on the census with the LeRoux family.
I apologize I am just beginning to research the family lines so I am not familiar with the proper way to list births deaths ect. I would be happy to fax you a copy of the death announcement. It may have some information you are looking for. I would also be interested in any information you might have to share.
Thank you Anna

Hi!! If you look far enough back you will find that a Charbonneau woman married Pohatan, Pocahantas's father. Also, a Canadian Charbonneau man married Sacjawea. He was on the Lewis and Clark expeditions. A few other Indians were married into the family as well. Email me if you want the full decriptions.

Re: CHARBONEAU/CHARBONNEAU, PILON
I believe that my gggg-grandmother was Mary Louise Charbonneau, I have researched that she was from Fond du Lac Indian Reservation in Cloquet, MN which is next to duluth. I am trying to prove her Native blood quantum any help with any information on her would be great. She married Joseph LaPine(Lepine). Please help me I am stuck. John

Hi John -
My Great Grandmother (whose name was Mary Louise but she NEVER used the Mary for some reason) was only married once that we know of... She was married to Henry LeRoux. I am only 31 and for your Mary to be a GGGG-Grandmother, I think we may be talking different generations. DO you happen to know approx. when your Mary lived... perhaps she was my g-grandmothers Great Aunt or cousin...
Anyhow, as far as the heritage goes, we have really never believed that as Mary claimed, she was 100% French... in fact we dug up a photo of her in full Native American dress! - of course, I also have a picture of her in Leather on a motocycle so... From what I understand she was VERY FEISTY (to put it nicely) and was not close with most of her family -so somethings are sketchy. I do know that there is a reservation in WI that has a lot of Charbonneaus that some family thinks we may be linked to... I would have to call my Uncle to find out the name but would be more than willing to if you think it might help... it seems to me it has the word Red in it... Anyhow, below is what I have found thus far perhaps it will be of some help. My line goes from Lambert/ Emilie to Noel/Adelina to Mary Louise/Henry Anyhow... :-) Anna

Hi. I was reading the message boards for this Charboneau family. Interestingly enough, I am doing research on the Monette family, but I found a 3rd cousin, Heather, I believe her great grandmother was Flora Charboneau who married Joseph Monette. Now, my ancestry came from Canada to Washburn/Bayfield Wisconsin and there is an Indian reservation there that is named Red something. I am just trying to put names with places in trying to find out more. You mention a Melvina marrying a Peltier. That would be Heather's great aunt then and they were in Duluth. Flora Charboneau lived in Minneapolis. They were married in Washburn, Wisconsin. You can e-mail me if you wish at krebert@msn.com (or anyone in reference to these families) and on the title line just put in Charboneau/Monette family tree so I know it is someone doing research. I will see if I can hook up with Heather as I do have her phone number. I live in Minnesota and a few of her uncles lived and died here in Minnesota. I would be interested in hearing from anyone in reference to if they have the Monette name in their family tree along with the Charboneau name. Kathy Ebert
