Hello
I have a marriage record that I am interested in and would like help to match the groom to the correct family. The transcript is as follows:
Joseph Davis and Joanna Diggan
The eighteenth of September eighteen hundred and sixty-four, we the undersigned priest, after the dispensation of matrimonail marriage being granted by His Lordship E. George, Bishop of Ottawa and no other impediment to this marriage been received the mutual consent of Joseph Davis son minor of ? Davis and Sarah Worthings of March on the one part and Joanna Diggan, daughter of age of Michael Diggan and Margaret Walsh of ? ? the other part and have given them the ? ? in presence of William ? [possibly Murray] and Michael Flannery who did not sign.
C. Gagy, Priest
I am hoping to identify the groom's parents (? Davis and Sarah Worthing) and their family in the 1861 Census or indeed any census or other record. Also of Michael and Margaret Diggan (Duggan ?) in 1861 or later.
I would also like to find this Joseph Davis and his wife Joanna in the 1871 Census of Canada (or elsewhere).
The only family in March that I can find that matches is that of my great, great, great grandparents Joseph Davis and his wife, Sarah Wtakins / Walkins. They did have a son named Joseph but he would marry in 1867 to Frances Mary Ann Gleeson.
Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated.
