Found the following newspaper articles which may help. I didn’t find anything in the newspapers on a marriage of Helen Oakley (Hawthorne) and Ross Brown. Marriage records are only available in Ontario to 1928. Maybe they didn’t actually marry. I noticed she kept her Oakley surname and added Brown.

Iona Thomas is Bride of G.R. Oakley
Miss Iona Thomas, daughter of Mr. Coleman Thomas, became the bride of MR. Gordon R. Oakley, son of Mrs. Helen Oakley and the late Mr. Lawrence Oakley, in the Metropolitan Tabernacle on Saturday at three o’clock.
The wedding was solemnized by Rev. James P. Void. Mr. Earl Crowe was soloist and Mrs. Alvin Waldorf, organist.
Given in marriage by her father the bride was attended by Miss Doris Dean and Mrs. Truman Knox. Miss Heather Waldorf was flower girl.
Mr. Thomas Hawthorne was best man and ushers were Mr. Edwin Thomas and Mr. Ray Thomas.
The bride wore a white floor length gown of Alencon lace designed with a bouffant pleated tulle flounce, scalloped neckline and cap sleeves. A scalloped headdress with sequins held her fingertip veil and she carried a bouquet of Sweetheart roses and white stephanotis.
Following a wedding reception at Morrison – Lamothe, Echo Drive, the couple left on a motor trip through the New England states. They will reside in Eastview.
To travel the bride chose a lime green shantung dress with matching duster, white hat and black patent leather shoes and bag.
