To William Lackie: I am just beginning to research my family history, and can find very little about my grandmother, Sadie Mildred Lackey. Sadie's own daughter, my aunt, also knows very little. This is what I have been told: "Willie" Lackey lived in Canada. His wife, Marie Theresa Dupres, came from the Isle of Jersey to Canada and married him at the age of 16. They had a daughter, Sadie, and "Willie" died at a very young age. His wife, Marie, remarried to a Scotch doctor and died giving birth to his child. The daughter, Sadie, was raised by her paternal grandmother, "Grandma Cooper", somewhere in Canada, possibly Toronto. Sadie eventually met my grandfather, Henry Howard Bair, married him, and came to the United States (New Jersey). I have a lot of unanswered questions! What happened to Marie's other child? What was Marie's second husband's surname? Where did my grandfather meet Sadie? Any information you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Nancy Bair

Hi, try http://www.bytown.net/
The Lackey's settled around Munster Ont. in Goulbourn Twp. where part of my family settled. There is also a web site you can go to which will show you Cemeteries in the area.
Go to http://www3.sympatico.ca/scott.naylor/Graves/NewIndex/GraveM... and then to Ottawa west. You will find pictures of the Lackey stones in some of the cemeteries in Goulbourn. They were Anglican I think for the most part. Father Ed Lackey, was the Archbishop of Ottawa in the 80's. They lived in my neighbourhood when I was a kid and Father Lackey was the priest at St. Michaels and All Angels. I think I read that 2 of his kids were also anglican priests now.

Hi my name is Kershla Mikaera this is a long shot but today I had someone conntact me through a DNA site and he said that I linked up in the dna through a line that was connected to William Lackey and Sarah Clarke. My grandfather we think was adopted out (he was born in 1919 not sure what year he joined his adopted family) But left Canada in 1924 at age 4 with his new family. Anyway we only found out through some dna testing that he was adopted. So now trying to find his family. I have my family tree done pretty well on every other line and seeing William was near Ottawa it makes sence that it was one of his decendants that had my grand dad. He lived in kingston before he left to NZ and we have lots of photos of Ottawa from my great grand fathers travels. before he adopted my grand dad. So now we wonder if these photos are actually relatives not friends ,like we have always thought. So would love to know if you have a tree to more recent time especially around the 1920 to see if there was anyone that it could possibly be. Also if you have any photos from this line as would love to see them to see if they match names and faces in the album we have. Thanks for your time from Kershla in Christchurch New Zealand :)
