I have two questions regarding John ISAAC who died on 12 Jul 1880 at Port Elgin. I would like to know how to find out if a will of his was probated, and also would be interested to know the names of local cemeteries where he, and presumably some other members of his family (all Methodists), including his wife Elizabeth RUXTON (a sister of one of my great great grandmothers) might have been buried.

John ISAAC did not have any long-standing connection with Port Elgin or the Bruce County. He arrived in Canada from Aberdeenshire about 1851 and settled near Alma in Wellington County (where he and his family were enumerated in the 1851/52 census). About 10 years later he bought land in Woolwich township (in the same village where my SMITH great great grandparents, also from Aberdeen, originally settled in 1835), but a few years later, as Bruce County was being settled, he moved to Saugeen township (where he was enumerated in 1871) where he farmed for a few more years before moving on to Port Elgin.
