Surnames: Myke/Mike
I just want to say how grateful I am to you, I have found soooo much information on my family. I have been trying for a very long time to find these names and dates. Unfortunately most of the senior members of my family have passed and I can no longer look to them for answers. I am grateful to many others of you here as well, because without your questions some of mine might not be answered.

My father was Charles Douglas Myke s/o Cecil Douglas Myke s/o Charles Orlan Myke s/o Charles Henry Myke, s/o Peter Myke...I am still trying to go farther, I have come to a bit of a wall. But I am grateful to have this many names. If I can help anyone here, please feel free to email: nyx752014@gmail.com.

Thank You so much again!

Connie

Your Welcome Connie I am glad my research has helped you. I know when I first started out looking for family it was hard but with the help of a few others I found everything I was looking for. So now I would like to thank tceigh who has posted hundreds of obituaries on this message board and helped me a lot.

If you want Connie post your question here and If I can I will share the information I have.
I found the obituaries for the people you mentioned in your post at the Eva Brook Donly Museum and Archives during one of my trips there. http://www.norfolklore.com/norfolk-stories/eva-brook-donly-m...

Thank you, I live close so going to the museum would be an easy trip for me. I am just stopped at Peter Mike/Myke/Groat. I have read most of the posts in regard to this part of my family. I believe at one time I was told or read that Peter's father was also a Peter Mike/Myke/Groat. However, I am not totally sure of that. I also think, although I'm not positive that this line goes back to Catharine aka Granny. I just can't seem to link from Peter back to Catharine.

Peter the father of Charles was the son of John Groat/Mike and Catherine aka granny. You will find them on the 1852 Census of Canada living at Tuscarora, Brant County, Canada West (Ontario), Canada .

Thanks again, Nbwaakaawin. I thought so but wasn't totally sure. I am guessing that is where the trail kind of fades? I did think I found records for Catharine again though. I thought her maiden name was Clause? Does anyone have an answer to this dilemma?

Claus/Clause is a Six Nations surname so I doubt that Catherine's maiden name was Claus or Clause because she was supposed to have been a %100 Mississauga of the Credit Indian but I don't know for sure what her maiden name was.

I'm a little late to the thread, but wanted to contribute anyhow. I also have Catherine's last name as Claus/Clause, however it's due to a previous marriage to a James Claus/e.

I've been on the hunt for family members and band numbers in an attempt to prove my great uncle's status (he's nearing 80 and has been trying for the last 30 years.). I have also been very grateful for the information you've posted on the boards Nbwaakaawin. Nya:weh!

Hi Carlie,

Welcome to the thread! :) I have been on the hunt for family members for about 20 years so I know how that is. I had started hunting to help my dad, but he died a few years ago and did gain status before he passed. I will keep going, if I can add anything or help at all, please let me know. :)

Thank you for clearing up the Claus/e mystery for me.
