George Bryce connection to James Bryce

Surnames: Bryce, Geddes
Thru my g-g-grandfather David Bryce, I have traced my connection to George Bryce, The Ratho Murderer. David Bryce (1812-c1854) was George's uncle. George was born 6 Jan 1833 in Ratho, Midlothian. He was executed by hanging 23 June 1864 in Edinburgh for the murder of Jeanie Seaton. Most of the information on George indicates that he was the nephew of James Bryce c1800-1844, hung for the murder of his brother-in-law, John Geddes. I have not been able to connect George to James. Any help would be appreciated.

I have been trying to do the same.
Tentatively I have connected them through John Bryce born c 1650 and his wife Bessy Hardy born 1650.
I am related to their son John Bryce b 1678. George Bryce, the murderer is related to another one of their son David Bryce b 1681.

The son of John Bryce b 1678 was James Bryce b 1720. He married Janet Kerr.
James 1720 and Janet Kerr has a son John Bryce 1751 and another son William Bryce 1764.
William Bryce 1764 had a son James Bryce born c 1800 who is the murderer. My connection is to their son John Bryce born 1751.

As far as I had been able to make out there is a family link.
George's (Murderer) father was second cousin to James (Murderer).
James Bryce (murderer) was my 5 times grandfathers cousin.
George Bryce (murderer) was my 4 times grandfathers second cousin.
This is just my attempt at working out the huge number of Bryce's that I have found on Family search. Hope it helps. If you find anything clearer I'd love to know.
