Hi
I just found today that G E Curley is GGGrandfather. Starting from here:
http://www.recordpub.com/news/article/4703755

I traced the Johnson family to George Henry Martin Johnson

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Henry_Martin_Johnson

who was a chief for the Mohawk tribe. Also look at the following

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pauline_Johnson for his daughter. Let me know if this helps.

Hello Moyer,

Thanks for the info you have provided. The obituary for Mary helped paint a picture of my Great Aunt's life. It helped fill in some holes for me in that respect. I can say for sure that we definitely share the same relations.

However, it seems there is a conflict in family history beyond the marriage of George Edward & Mary Catherine (Johnson) Curley.

The obituary suggests that Mary Catherine was a great grand child of George Henry Martin Johnson. From everything I have researched, I haven't found anything to confirm that Henry, Eliza, Allen or Pauline had any children named Mary Catherine.

My personal records, which I also haven't been able to confirm, goes like this (? means the info is unconfirmed):

Jacob "Tekahionwake" Johnson (godson to Sir William Johnson) had a son, John "Smoke" Johnson, who married Helen Martin. They had ?8? children (all records I have seen online indicate 7). They are: Mary, ?Oliver?, George Henry Martin Johnson, Joseph, William, Margaret, Aaron and Susannah.

?Oliver had a single child, Mary Catherine Johnson?

From there Mary Catherine married George Edward who in turn had 8 children. Lloyd Clifford and Mary Aileen were two of them.

I'm looking for information that can confirm Oliver was Mary Catherine's father and that he was John and Helen's son.

I am also trying to figure out who Oliver may have married and his death and birth dates.

Hello
I recognize some of the problems connecting Johnsons with Curleys. I ran across The Haudenosaunee Project at http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=SHOW&... which has many of the same names that I have in the Curley line. There is the possibility that what I had as Aaron Johnson and Elizabeth Miracle were actually Allen Johnson and Floretta Maracle (I have seen Floretta, Loretta, and Lizabeth). If you find anything let me know.

M. William (Bill) Moyer

Mary Cathrine (nee Curley)Johnson is daughter of Aaron Johnson not George Henry Martin Johnson. Aaron: son of John Smoke Johnson: son of Jacob George Tekahionwake Johnson: son of Teyonehehkewea. Mohawk Valley New York. More later.

Samuel Curley and Sarah Anger. I believe that Samuel is the son of Widow Elizabeth Curley from Haldimand County in the 1850's. Later of Brant County on the Rez. Sarah Anger's family is from near Birtiestown outside Fort Erie. Anger is a confirmed U.E.L family. Butler's Rangers. Formerly of Mohawk Valley New York.

First Curley on the Grand, I believe, is John Curley - Treaty signing Delaware Indian warrior on the Grand River in Haldimand County. Confirmed there in 1831 - probably there from 1783, prior to Brant, arriving from near Niagara, New York after the revolution and the Indian defeats in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York & the Delaware Valley. Still digging. Is this Bill Moyer of the Moyer's from Chardon?

You mentioned an obituary for Mary Catherine Johnson Curley, where could I find this? She is my great grandmother via her son Oliver Curley

Hi I was wondering where I could find documentation on the John Curley, who you mention is confirmed to be in Haldimand 1831?
