Dear Russ.
I haven't got that information at my fingertips right now because we're doing renovations. The Brown family we're related to lived on St.Joseph Island.I think the mother was probably a Belval. Gary Bishop from St. Joseph has sent me information and he could probably help you.You can find him on the Algoma website. I have a picture of my gr.grandmother and am told the other woman is her cousin Annie Brown. Hope you find something.

I found info of a Mary Brown, wife of Henry Belvall from a St. Joseph Island Census (1901). She was born 3-01-1843 and was described as "French" and "RC" for Roman Catholic. Henry and Mary have a daughter named Catherine or "Katie" who married Alfred McGowan. I believe he is my great-grandfather but am trying to verify.

Hi Russ,
We've talked before...what information specifically are you looking for on Norman Brown and Elizabeth Rathwell?
Norman and Elizabeth are my great-great-grandparents. My grandmother is still alive and may have some information on them, though I'm not sure how much. Her mother, Norman and Elizabeth's daughter, died at only 32 so my grandmother was only 5 at the time. I'm not sure how much contact she had with her mother's family after that.

Let me know what you're looking for and I'll see if I can't help.

I think that my mother and your grandmother are cousins. My grandfather was the second son of Norman James Brown and Elizabeth Rathwell. His name was Walter HARVEY Brown. Was your great grandmother Vina or her sister Evelyn (they both died around the same age)? Unfortunately my grandfather seemed to have little contact with his family once he left home so I don't have much information, but would love to make contact.
Looking forward to making contact,
Mary Ann
