Barb,
Thanks for the findagrave tip. Yes, I am quite certain that Jerry is Ludger. I have found that a couple of times; in a census (ages match) and in a Land Record of Plat name listings for Clement Twp., Gladwin Co. Jerry and Denis are right next to each other in Sec. 10. Denis' name there is Turon.
I did have a nice hit today. I found John Turo, wife Angelina, and Addie Turo in the U.S. 1870 Census, West Turin, Lewis Co., NY. I had searched and searched in NY on Ancestry.com and Heritage Quest Census records thinking that maybe there was some kind of connection to NY that son Napolean had referred to. He wasn't right about his mother Addie being born there, but they did live there for awhile. I found them on familysearch pilot site. There was an Angelina Ford (b. 1802) also in the household. Who she is I don't know. Ancestry.com transcriber had butchered the Turon name, beginning it with an L.
Unfortunately I could not confirm if Denis and Angeline Turon are siblings to Addie because they were not there. I am thinking that if they were siblings, they had already left the family because they were ages 19 and older. I was hoping to find them with John, Angeline, and Addie in either the 1860 U.S. Census or the 1861 CAN Census, but have had no luck.
Question: Is there a difference between Ancestry.com and Ancestry.ca? When I found Joseph Barbeau's death record, I could only view the index card, but you mentioned that Ancestry.ca had the full certificate info, which you gave me. Have you tried looking for Joseph Barbeau and Addie Touron's marriage record? That may be my only hope for finding out the names of Joseph Barbeau's parents. I am leaning toward Peterborough as the county where they were married since they had a number of children born there.
thanks again for your help.
Jon
