Searching for information, my great uncle Earl J. Lake b. 1884 in Jefferson Co., NY married Susanna Pote Wessian or Messian in White River Algoma Co., Ontario Canada in 1914. She is believe to be Canadian Indian. There is very little known about there two people atleast from our family stand point. I have a copy of there marriage certification and know her fathers name was Louis and mother was Jean Lagarde Susanna had a brother Albert. I have not been able to locate any other information about these people. I do know that Earl was alive in the 1950's as letters were recieved by his sister, he said in these letters that they were actually written by his grand daughter due to his arthitis. So there were children and grand children part of this family. In 1914 he was listed as a trapper on the marriage certificate.
The certificate also shows that Susannas name is spelled 3 different ways Poto / Poto Wessian / Poto Messian any help on with this would be greatly appriecated
