I am searching for information on Hjalmar too. I have been writing Profile on him for the Journal of the Arctic Institute of North America. He died in 1967 and is buried at Norman Wells Northwest Territories. David Pelly's book on the Thelon River shows him on the shores of Schultz Lake after overwintering with Helge Ingstad trapping 1928 to 1929. (Ingstad and his wife went on to discover the Viking settlement at L'Anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland.) I think Hjalmar trapped for some years SE of Snowdrift, Great Slave Lake before moving to Norman Wells. Hamar Mountain near Norman Wells is named after him.
