I am researching family surname Karpik (Qappik). Does anybody have any information about this surname?

I don't know if this will help at all. My great-grandmother married John Karpik sometime between 1920 and 1930. On the 1930 census it states that he was from Poland. The name was spelled as Karpek. I couldn't find anything from Ellis Island on him and have been hitting a brick wall with this name.

my great uncle came to Canada in the 20s worked in the gold mines northern Ontario, when born was Russian but when he left it was part of Poland, never met a wife when I knew him he was always single retired and died in Toronto Canada
