Re: Gustave J. Saulnier obit.
Dear Robert,
I am not a Sonnier descendant, but my maternal grandmother, Adelaide Simon Fontenot, first married Arthur Erange Sonnier in St. Landry Parish.
Arthur was born December 28, 1865, bt. Opelousas Church, died December 29, 1899, bur. Iberia Parish, St. John The Evangelist Cemetery, Jeanerette, LA. Arthur was the s/o Silvain Sonnier and Valentine Fontenot.
After Arthur Sonnier died, my grandmother, Adelaide Fontenot married Villeneuve LeDoux, widr. of Azema Ardoin. Villeneuve LeDoux died in 1919 and is buried with his first wife, Azema Ardoin, in the Ardoin Cemetery on Mike Lane in Evangeline Parish, LA.
Azema Ardoin is buried on his right side, and there is an unmarked grave on his left. I believe the unmarked grave is that of my grandmother, Adelaide Fontenot, but I cannot prove it. My mother (Alcina LeDoux 1909-2000) told me both Villeneuve and Adelaide died when she was 9-years old.
Dalton Sonnier, went to the church in Jeanerette, and had the church secretary look-up Arthur Erange Sonnier's burial information. Arthur Erange Sonnier was "killed by the stroke of the limb of a tree". My mother never told me this story. I would love to know the circumstances of his death.
I found Arthur's death record in Rev. Donald J. Hebert's Southwest Louisiana Records, but I have never found my grandmother's death record.
I have a question:
Joseph Sonnier, Sr. b. August 4, 1792, Opel. Ch. m. February 25, 1811, Julienne Guidry, bt. June 4, 1795 at age 1 year.
I have listed two of their sons, but I do not have their spouses's names. Can you tell me who they married?
Sosthene Sonnier, b. Oct. 13, 1830, bt. Lafayette Church
Joseph Sonnier, Jr., b. June 04, 1818, bt. Saint Martin Church.
I am a French-speaking native of Evangeline Parish, LA. I have lived in Birmingham, AL since my marriage in 1954.
Avec mes mellieurs sentiments (with my very best wishes) Rosie Morein Wells Birmingham, AL

Re: Gustave J. Saulnier obit.
Do you have any information on a Genevieve Saulnier, who married a Charles McKay. I found them in W. Cheezetcook, N.S. in 1824. I have info on their children, but nothing on them before or after this time. Please email me privately. Thanks for any assistance.
Truly, Marie(McKay) Peavey
