MARSH, Allan Frederick Charles - 81, Mahone Bay, formerly of Yarmouth, died February 5, 1999, at home, following a lengthy and courageous struggle with cancer. Born in London, England, Allan was a son of the late Leslie and Kathleen (Tozer) Marsh. He worked in the family insurance business until joining the Royal Air Force at the outbreak of the Second World War, serving on aircraft carriers throughout the war. After the war, Allan settled in Yarmouth where he was the proprietor of Marsh Plumbing and Heating Limited until his retirement in 1983. Allan was very active in his professional organization, serving as the president of the Canadian Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors Association in 1961. He was a Scoutmaster and very involved with the Y's Men's Club, serving as president of the Yarmouth organization, as well as district-governor. Allan is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Morton) and daughters, Carole (Robert) Bertoia, Summerland, B.C.; Pamela Barker, Lunenburg; and Linda (Grant) Wyman, Bridgewater. He will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Kristine, Victoria; Jeffery, Summerland, B.C.; Jennifer, London, England; Jefferson, Syracuse, N.Y.; and Gwyneth, Salt Spring Island, B.C. He was predeceased by his brother, Stanley (Enfield, England) and his sister, June Walters (Bishop's Stratford, England). Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held this evening, 7-9 p.m. in The Moorings, 575 Main St., Mahone Bay. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 15, at 2 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth, Rev. Bill Newell officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lunenburg Branch of the Victorian Order of Nurses, P.O. Box 517, Lunenburg, NS B0J 2C0, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
