I looked up Harriet Newell and found she was a missionary who died almost 50 years before our Harriet was born. So maybe her husband's family is involved somehow?? He died in some foreign island country. It's been a while since I read it but google will find it easily. I didn't think her name would have come from a missionary wife who died within the first year of marriage who never really did anything.
Good idea thinking Newell might be a family name on her mother's side. My first thought would be her grandmother on her mother's side. I should have thought of that. It's how I found my great great grandparents on my dad's side. Also elusive. What's with these people in mid 1800!! Wintess protection program ;-)

I did find Beals in that book at google books online.

I'm going to use the name Josiah Beal for searching purposes. I've misplaced the other name already! Didn't take but a few minutes! I think John. Or not.

William and Georg might be possibilities. I didn't see either of those names. Do you recall the page?

Maybe we'll finally get a lead on this family!
