Wilsons/Scotts of Shelburne...

I have just started searching family tree and am looking for any/all information that can be provided. My grandmother's family are Wilsons/Farmers. My grandfathers family are Scotts/Jacklins. Both sides had family in Birchtown and Shelburne in the 1800s but my search has come to a stand still. If there are relations - would love to hear from you. If there are links - would appreciate receiving them also. Thanks Patricia.

You mentioned receiving links. All the Vital Stats mentioned in the previous posts (marriages, births, deaths) and probably many others of interest can be found at
www.novascotiagenealogy.ca
This is a free and searchable site maintained by the Nova Scotia Archives where you can see the actual document. You may need to download a viewer program, which is free onsite, to do so.

The 1901 and 1911 Census can be accessed at
www.automatedgenealogy.ca

All other census' can be found on the Library and Archives Canada site
http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/census/Pages/census.aspx

The other great site is the Latter Day Saints. Lots of Primary Records
www.familysearch.org

Be careful about online trees-they are only as good as the person doing the research. Great for suggesting research ideas but not to be taken as fact. I have one whole branch of family who were born, lived and died in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. However every online tree I have ever found has them in Yarmouth, Maine. I tried, without success, for years to correct this.
Happy Hunting
