Surnames: Gardner Gardiner Dexter Simmons Wilcox
Have recently discovered that Lewis Gardner or Gardiner(1813-18770) is an ancestor. He was married to Hannah Dexter and his lineage goes back to Thomas Gardner - married to Sarah Wilcox. Thomas had as son Stephen (1760-1844)His son Stephen (1777-1840) married Tryphenia Simmons. I believe that he was a privateer & Captain of the Charles Mary Wentworth. Lewis had a daughter Welthy or Wealthy - my gggmother. She had an illigitimate child, Amanda, my ggmother. I believe they all resided in Milton or Liverpool area. Am doing a geneology book and would appreciate any further info of any sort on these ancestors.

There's another thread here- GARDNER FAMILY- which seems to relate to thgis same Amanada Gardner. Is it your thread or is it another descendants perhaps? Have you found a link proving Amanda's mother was Welthy Gardner, daughter of Lewis Gardner?

Surnames: Mulhall Gardner
Thanks for your interest. There are 2 of us seeking info, so must be the link you saw. We are quite sure that Amanda is the daughter of Welthy or Wealthy, who is the dau. of Lewis Gardner - Privateer Stephen Gardner's descendant. Surprised I can't find more info about Thomas Gardner, son Stephen and his son Stephen Jr. as they were apparently involved in shipping in Liverpool area.
Wealthy was a servant as was Amand. Amanda was apparently illigitimate and her father is mentioned on a census I believe as a Mulhall. She married Henry or Harry Overmass - White (used both surnames at times.

That explains the 2 posts then.

There are certainly many references for Thomas Gardner (c1730-1802) in T.B. Smith's Notes, History of Brooklyn by Lucius D. Dexter, writings of Melbourne Gardner, etc. His son Stephen is also mentioned in these sources.

John H. Gardner married Catherine Ryan in Boston, Mass. in 1897. John's birthplace listed as Brooklyn, N.S. and parents as Samuel & Elizabeth. See www.familysearch.org

John Herman Ryan born 25 Apr.1869 at Brooklyn, Queens, N.S.- parents Samuel F. Gardner & Ann Elizabeth Wentzell.

I have 5 children listed for John & Catherine, although Daniel (born 1890) is quite possibly Catherine's son but not John's.

Who are the 5 children you have? Names dob marriages etc if known would be appreciated.
I am looking mainly for information on Catheryn Ryans parents, and
Edward Gardner who married Ester Silverstein Pearlmutter in Boston prior to 1942(Jan) when their only child was born in Boston.
