I am looking for information about my husband's great grandmother, Amanda Gardner, who was the daughter of Mercy Gardner. Would very much like to trace her lineage. Thanks so much, Lynn

Thanks so much for this information. Yes, this is the Amanda Gardner I am looking for. Amanda was the daughter of Wealthy and a Mulhall, who may have been already married. I am trying to find the names of Wealthy's parents and am wondering if she was a descendant of the Gardners who came to Cape Sable from Mass. whose heritage is traced back to the Mayflower. I have found a Simeon Gardner who moved from Cape Sable to Liverpool,in the early 1800's. I would very much appreciate any information anyone might have on the Gardner family. Thanks so very much. Lynn

Simeon Gardner came to N.S. from Nantucket if I remember correctly. The Gardners of Liverpool descend from Thomas Gardner. If Amanda was living in Liverpool then it's much more likely she belongs to Thomas' family.
Wonder if this is the right family?: Thomas Gardner m. Sarah Wilcox. 1. Stephen Gardner (1760-1844) m. Rebecca Dexter. 1. Stephen Gardner (1777-1840) m. Tryphenia Simmons. 1. Lewis Gardner (1813-1877) m. Hannah Dexter. 1. Welthy Gardner. 2. Maria Gardner. 3. Sophia Gardner. 4. Eliza Ann Gardner (1845-1925).
Might be others with the same name in the family and will have a look through my files tomorrow. Any more details which might identify Amanda or her mother?

In the Barrington Township book it lists Simeon Gardner b 1781 son of Simeon moved to Liverpool. Also, his brother Freeman moved to Liverpool. Would they be relatives? It lists Benjamin, Simeon, Solomon and Zaccheus Gardner in this text. It is mentioned that the above were all descended from Richard Gardner, a Mayflower passenger in 1620.Would Thomas be a descendant from one of these Gardners?

Thomas Gardner (c1730-1802), son of Thomas, m. Sarah Wilcox and received a grant of land from the Crown at Brooklyn, Queens Co. The Nantucket Gardners are a separate family.
Still have to look through my files. Do you have any dates for Amanda Gardner and her mother?

What is your source of the mother's name: Wealthy?
There were many Gardners in Brooklyn and there were Mulhalls also in the 1881 Census, but no Wealthy.
The "History of Brooklyn" by Lucius D Dexter c 1937 has no mention of Wealthy or Amanda (understandable) or anything like it nor any mention of aMulhall family.
Look in the 1871 Census for Brooklyn for a Gardner female age about 8 years with given name starting with W.

Amanda was born December 22, 1862 in Liverpool. Her mother, Wealthy was a servant. The father was supposedly a Mulhall.

Hi! Just getting back to Amanda and her mother. Amanda's mother is listed as Welkin, and was a servant in Liverpool. We had perhaps thought this was a mispelling of Wealthy as we had been told Amanda's mother was Wealthy Gardner.Wonder if there is any way to find information about this. Thanks so much, Lynn
