Hello Priscilla,
It seems I hit the jackpot with 2 responses to my Douglas query on the same day. I would be very happy to receive any information you would like to share on the people mentioned in your post.
Thank you for responding.
Karen

I am descended from a Robert Douglas (b 1799, Scotland) and Elizabeth McFarlane. I believe they were parents of Grace Gursey (Gertie? ... b 1833, Scotland), Janet (b 1821, Scotland) and Elizabeth (b 1829, Scotland). I saw tonight that someone has suggested on Ancestry.ca that this is the same Robert Douglas discussed here ... from Port George, NS. Any thoughts?
Mike

My third great grand uncle Robert Douglas was christened March 3, 1799 in Scotland along with his twin sister Barbara. He married Elizabeth Hawksworth and had they had 8 children. Robert immigrated to Nova Scotia in the early 1820s and settled in the Port George area.

Hi: Thanks ... I think we've chatted recently. Do you know if your Robert Douglas married Elizabeth Hawksworth after emigrating to Nova Scotia? My Robert Douglas is the father of Grace Gursey (Gertie?) Douglas ... who was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1833. She married Charles Vollett in Grey Co, Canada West in 1850. I'm not sure that this matches with the details you've provided.

Hi,
Yes they married 27 Feb 1823, Annapolis Co., NS. They had the following children:
Sarah Jane b. 1823
James Howard b. 1826
Barbara Ellenor b. 1828
Margaret Ann b.1830
John Hawksworth b. 1833
Robert Joshua b.1834
Mary Sophronia b.1837
Francis Outhit b. 1840
Robert was born in Roxburgshire Scotland & christened in the town of Ancrum in Roxburgshire Scotland. He emigrated to NS and settled in Annapolis Co., NS.
I don't believe they are the same people.
