Found your John R Noonan traveling from Pictou in 1851 to Prince Edward Island. He was on board the ship with the incoming 'Bishop of Nova Scotia' who was Hibbert Binney (served 1851-1887), and Mrs. J H Crosskill (presumeable the historian, John H. Crosskill's wife) and a few others. Found in the 'Royal Gazette' of PEI, Sept 29 1851 issue. St Philip's was on the same site but burned.

I suggest contacting the Historical Society in New Glasgow.
Sorry but I don't know much about this family line. I can go back and re read my notes but I agree the marriage date of 1865 doesn't make much sense at all. It's probably a different Angus that the one who married a Mc Innis, I think it may have been Rory's or John's son that it was referring to. I got this information in Halifax at the national archives from the marriage register that is now on line and you should be able to see the marriages from this time period from St Margaret's in Antigonish. Sorry I can't be of more help right now,
In re-reading this post I am interested in talking to you about: "Rory (MacAlistair OG, 1774-1860, arrived in 1790 aboard the Hector to Pictou from Knoydart, Scotland) of Bailey's Brook married Catherine MacGillivray (1787-1867), daughter of William) around 1805. Their children were John (Dec 1811-4 Jul 1891, died at Eigg Mtn, m. Catherine MacGillivray around 1833); James m. Catherine Livingstone; Angus m. Catherine Gillis 1867; and Janet (b. 1825, spinster)." I have been tracing this line as well, Rankin in his Antigonish County book states that Rory's son Angus marries a "Miss McInnis, Cape" and your evidence seems to state he married a Catherine GILLIS in 1865 (which actually seems really late since his brothers are marrying ca. 1840. I'm interested in your sources for Angus and Catherine Gillis. Can you email me caramacdonald@pier21.ca thank you!

Thank you for the response.
I have all of what you have listed below from those sites you listed. That seems to be all that is on-line at this time. Ernest was from NFLD and is part of my direct family tree. I would primarily like to be able to find information on Ernest's and Gertrude's son's, who were born in Pictou area around 1913-14. There does not seem to be a record of birth for either, a marriage for Robert but nothing for William J, that I can find. Maybe somebody from the area has some information.

You can find all the below at the Nova Scotia Archive site
www.novascotiagenealogy.ca
This is a free site. You may need to download a viewer program which is free onsite to see the actual record.

There are two marriage records for Ernest Adrian Morgan. First in 1905 in Glace Bay to Edith Pieroway. He is recorded as age 20, a bachelor, born in St Johns NLFD son of James and Emily. He married Gertrude Clyburn in 1912 in Stellarton, Pictou. Oddly he is also recorded as a bachelor in this record but since he is recorded as being born in St. Johns, son of James and Emily it is the same person
The 1901 and 1911 Canadian Census can be searched free at
www.automatedgenealogy.com
The family of James and Emily with a 15 year old Ernest were living in Glace Bay in 1901; all born in NFLD, coming to Nova Scotia in 1898.
I am looking for information on Ernest Morgan who married Gertrude Clyburn at Stellarton, NS in 1912. Gertrude was from Isaac's Harbour. They appear to have had two son's, Robert Bruce born ~1913 and William J. born ~ 1914. His military paper before going overseas in 1916 indicated he had 2 son's, one 3 yrs., and one 2 yrs.
I have found a marriage (1936) in New Glasgow for Robert Bruce to Inez Pound who's father was from PEI. I have not been able to find any information further to this. Gertie, remarried James Petrof in New Glasgow as a widow in 1925 and died in 1931 in New Glasgow. Any information on these families would be much appreciated. I am related to Ernest and have much of the information on Ernest's family who immigrated from Newfoundland in 1898-99.

I have a great deal of Creighton information, but Robert is the most slippery of the original brothers, as is his wife, Margaret (Maggie) Reid.
If you are still interested in this family, please contact me at kgedit2@earthlnk.net.
Hugh Johnston Fraser of West River , Pictou(1828 - 1886(?))

Greetings Fellow Amateur(& otherwise) Genealogists !
I am struggling with a very difficult search for the parents and family of Hugh Johnston Fraser , formerly of West River(Durham) , Pictou . While I have found that he married a Jessie Isabell Fraser(no relation) of Pictou Town in 1851 and they went on to have 5 children and owned land in River John , I have no information on who Hugh's parents were nor when nor where he died . I do believe that he & his immediate family relocated to Montreal in about 1862 . Also that he had a brother named David Fraser(1821-1896)who also relocated to Montreal to be an auctioneer . I also discovered that Hugh worked as an auctioneer in Chicago in 1876-86 . There is a quote in Pictonians at Home & Abroad which recognizes him and his 2 oldest sons : David Hatfield Fraser and William Hammatt Fraser of Montreal .
Grateful for any insights about West River Frasers ; mythology is that family was related to Hector passengers .
Regards , Neil D. Fraser

My great-grandfather David Hatfield Fraser was born in Pictou , with parents Hugh Johnston Fraser & wife Jessie Isabell(Bell) - maiden-name Fraser(no relation) - in 1854 . David had siblings William Hammatt Fraser , Catherine Jane Fraser & Charles Albert Fraser . He and the first 2 siblings later moved to Montreal , while Charles moved to North Dakota and , later , Minnesota to work in the newspaper business . We are told by family mythology that we are descendants of the Hector passengers and would like to reconnect with this link . We have very little verifiable information about Hugh's family roots . All inputs welcomed .

The family lived upstairs. Mom is Margaret Rebecca Stewart Campbell, daughter of John Campbell and Mary Ethel Stewart. Mary Ethel's father is Hugh Stewart, brother of John Robert Stewart, Daniel William Stewart, Alexander Stewart and Margaret Rebecca Stewart. Their parents were Alexander Stewart and Mary Cameron. I believe Mary was his second wife. I found info about Alexander in the Census and this site http://www.readbag.com/chebucto-ns-ca-recreation-gans-pictou... shows his marriage to Mary .... entry #461.
I've noticed the Green Hill and Mount William Watters and have yet to make any connection with these Watters to my Watters in my tree. My original Watters were; James and Sarah Jane Dingle Watters. James is said to migrated to NS prior to 1868 from Cornwall as a miner. Sarah J Dingle was born in St Mary's River area 1848. They had a number of children many of which settle in the Stellarton area. One notable was James L Watters, Police Chief of Stellarton NS in 1915.

http://www.myprairiehome.net/2011/10/police-chief.html
