Trenton - Mary (Nellie) Steele, 89, Edward Mortimer Place, Pictou, formerly of Hampson Street, Trenton, died Sunday in Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital, Pictou. Born in Roman Valley, Guysborough County, she was a daughter of the late Dennis and Elizabeth (Bowles) Farrell. She attended Christ the King Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the altar society. She also belonged to the senior citizens club. She is survived by three daughters: Ann (Mrs Cyril Carpenter), New Glasgow; Florence (Mrs Michael Tomyl), Maynard, Mass.; Mrs Joan Kenney, Trenton; a son, Lawrence, Westville; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel; three daughters: Marion, Helen, and Katherine; three brothers: Edward, Vincent and John; a sister, Ann (Mrs Joseph MacDonald); a granddaughter. The remains will rest at the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton after 7 p.m. today. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church. Interment will be in Holy Cross cemetery. Donations may be made to the Edward Mortimer Place, Pictou.
